The Prizegiving Ceremony for the National, Border and West Coast Night Navigation Championships took place on Saturday night last in the Kilmore Hotel in Cavan. Once again Midland members received a healthy share of the awards on the night including the following members: Sean Henehan & Martin Quinn - 4th in Novice class of the West Coast, Kenneth Prior & John Mc Corry - 3rd in semi-expert class West Coast & Border Championships, Sam Johnston & Paul Fitzpatrick - 2nd in Semi-Expert class of the Border and 1st Overall in the West Coast Championship, Kevin Lunt & Eoin Longworth - 1st overall in the Semi-Expert class of the National Championship with Eoin also getting 3rd in the Expert class of the West Coast with Gerry Kelly and Kevin coming 2nd overall in the West Coast Championship, Richard Howard - 2nd in the Expert class West Coast, Dessie & Kathleen Brady – 2nd Novice West Coast and Best Team in the same Championship, with Dessie also picking up 5th Novice in the Border Championship.
The most successful Midland Crew on the night was without doubt Pakie Duffy and Harry Bleakley. Pakie and Harry were the champions of the West Coast and Border Championships also picking up 1st Expert in the National Championship as well as being members of the winning team in the West Coast. This rounds off a very successful season for the lads. Unfortunately with the current foot & mouth crisis there will be no Championship rounds this side of Christmas so all crews will have a while to wait before they commence their championship campaigns again.
The AGM of Midland Motor Club takes place on Tuesday night next the 25th September in the Stags Head, Ballinalee, Co. Longford at 9pm. All members are invited to attend.
